Derek Forbes

Derek Forbes ( born June 22, 1956 in Glasgow, Scotland) is a Scottish bassist and a founding member of the rock band Simple Minds. He was a member of the band until 1985 and then played in various bands, sometimes even again for the Simple Minds.

Biography

Derek Forbes began his career in the band Subhumans and came in 1978 to Jim Kerr, Charlie Burchill, Michael MacNeil, Brian McGee and Duncan Barnwell, Simple Minds, and wanted to again play lead guitar, but could not because his guitar was stolen when bassist of the group. After the end of 1978 Duncan Barnwell left the band, the lineup that recorded the first Simple Minds records from 1979 was formed. During arguments in the band Forbes in 1985 left the band before the Live Aid concert and the Once Upon The Time tour and went to the synth pop band Propaganda, where he Brian McGee, who had the Simple Minds leave in 1981, met. 1995/98 a reunion with Simple Minds for the album Neapolis Neapolis and the tour took place. Last Derek Forbes founded the band with Ian Donaldson Fourgoodmen which interacts in changing formations until today ( 2009). Since the end of 2011 he joined on together with Brian McGee and his brother Owen Paul, as ex Simple Minds. The band is rounded out by guitarist Anthony William and keyboardist Andy Gall.
