Derek Foster, Baron Foster of Bishop Auckland

Derek Foster, Baron Foster of Bishop Auckland PC DL ( born June 25, 1937) is a British politician. He was from 1979 to 2005 MP for Bishop Auckland, County Durham, in the House of Commons.

Foster is a member of the Labour Party. From 1985 to 1995 he was Managing Director of the parliamentary party. After Tony Blair in 1994 but took over this position, he was appointed Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, with the promise Blair, the party should be stronger, he would get a place in the British Cabinet. In 1997, when Labour could win the election for him, he was then deputy parliamentary secretary to David Clark. After only two days, he handed over the office, he later reported that Blair had not kept his promise. Foster is the son of Joseph Foster and Ethel Maud. In 1972 he married his wife Florence Anne Bulmer, with whom he has a daughter and three sons.
