Derek S. Pugh

Derek Salman Pugh ( born August 31, 1930 in London ) is a British psychologist, organizational researchers, university teacher, consultant and author.

Life

Until his retirement in 2000, Pugh Professor of International Management at the Open University, UK was (from 1983). Previously, he taught at the University of Edinburgh (1953-1957), University of Birmingham ( 1957-60 ), Aston ( 1960-1967 ) and the London Business School ( 1968-1969 ). In addition, he held visiting professorships in France, Germany, Israel and Italy. His academic training was Pugh at the University of Edinburgh ( MA 1953, MSc 1956) and University of Aston ( DSc 1973).

Pugh is the author or co-author of 15 books, including the first three volumes of the Aston Research Programme.

As part of its activities Pugh is an influential author and researcher for the organization development (OD ). In addition to its effect in the Aston Group, he developed the Pugh matrix, a commonly used tool in the OE.
