Dermatographic urticaria

The medical term dermographism (Greek derma - "skin", graphein - " writing" ) is translated as skin writing or skin drawing. The medical appearance was first described in 1858.

Manifestations

Normally, the so-called dermographism occurs ruber (red dermographism ). He describes the typical red stripes that occur as a result of vasodilation after stroking the skin with a blunt pencil or wooden spatula. In the so-called dermographism albus (white dermographism ) it comes here after mechanical irritation of the skin as a result of vasoconstriction characteristic white stripes. The white dermographism points to the increased tendency to atopy. The urticarial dermographism is a symptom of urticaria factitia or mastocytosis ( Darier's sign ) and arises due to an increased histamine release.
