Dermoid cyst

The dermoid cyst is a cavity that is lined by epidermis tissue. The dermoid cyst occurs mainly in the ovaries.

In contrast to the cysts that occur during the female cycle and usually mostly regress by itself, the dermoid cyst is an embryonic maldevelopment.

Is a germ cell tumor, and more specifically a mature teratoma, which consists of totally different types of tissue. Therefore, it may come within the dermoid cyst in the formation of tissue structures such as muscles, cartilage, small bones, hair and teeth formed completely.

In addition to the deposits in the ovaries / fallopian tubes, a dermoid cyst may also form in the header area ( Non-odontogenic cysts ) and in the male testes. The latter is quite dangerous due to a high probability of degeneration.
