Derrick Brew

Derrick Brew ( born December 28, 1977 in Houston ) is an American sprinter.

The 400 - meter runner Brew had his breakthrough at the 2001 U.S. Trials for the World Athletics Championships in 2001 in Edmonton. He finished fourth and qualified for the 4 x 400 - meter relay in the USA. This season he was then for the first time world champion. Same was the 2003 season when he was in Paris for the second time relay world champion at the World Athletics Championships in 2003. This medal of the U.S. squadron was however withdrawn subsequently.

At the U.S. Trials for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, he came third and was allowed to take the first time competing in a single race in which he won the bronze medal. With the season he was in Athens Olympic champion.

At the U.S. Championships in 2005 only fifth, he was nonetheless nominated for the relay at the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 2005. There he became world champion again. His personal best time he was still a student in 1999 with 44.29 s, a time which he with 44.42 s almost reached only at the Olympics in Athens.

Derrick Brew has a competition weight of 79 kg at a height of 1.85 m.
