Derrick Brown (basketball)

Derrick Paul Brown ( born September 8, 1987 in Oakland, California) is an American professional basketball player. He played from 2009 to 2011 for the Charlotte Bobcats in the NBA.

Career

College

Brown played three years for the Xavier University of Cincinnati. The season 2007/ 08 was about his most successful. With the Musketeers, the team at his university, he reached the Elite Eight. It was Brown 's second best scorer and best rebounder of his team. However, they lost there against the UCLA Bruins with 76-57. In his last season was achieved, although only the Sweet 16, but Brown was able to increase its performance again.

NBA

In the 2009 NBA Draft, Brown was drafted in 40th place of the Charlotte Bobcats. With the Bobcats, it reached on 13 July 2009 then to a two- year contract. In his first season with the Bobcats, he played a total of 57 games and reached an average of 3.3 points per game. He also reached the Bobcats make the playoffs, but where you eliminated against the Orlando Magic. In the season 2010/11 he was placed in the position of power forward third behind Boris Diaw and Tyrus Thomas before he was released to the New York Knicks as part of a trade. For the Knicks, his contract was dissolved, and Brown returned for the season 2011/2012 back to the Bobcats. For the season 2012/2013 Brown was awarded a new contract in Charlotte, and was appointed by the San Antonio Spurs in the preliminary squad for the following season. In October, however, he was removed out of the squad.

Europe

Then, Brown moved to Russia to locomotive Kuban Krasnodar. With this club he won the final of the Eurocup 2012/13.
