Deseado Department

The department Deseado is located in the northeast of the province of Santa Cruz in southern Argentina and is one of the seven administrative units in the province.

It is bordered to the north by the province of Chubut, in the east by the Atlantic Ocean, to the south by the department of Magallanes and the west by the department of Lago Buenos Aires.

The capital of the department is Deseado Puerto Deseado.

Population

According to estimates by the INDEC, the population increased from 72 953 inhabitants (2001) to 83 802 inhabitants in 2005.
