Despina Vandi

Despina Vandi (Greek Δέσποινα Βανδή, actually Despina Malea ( Δέσποινα Μαλέα ), born July 22, 1969 in Tübingen ) is a Greek singer who has sold in Greece alone over a million records.

Life

Although Vandi was born in Germany and grew up, she has not learned the German language. She pulled at the age of six years with her family in the home Kavala back. After graduating from school, she studied psychology, philosophy and education at the University of Thessaloniki. She is the former Greek football player and former president of AEK Athens, Demis Nikolaidis, married. She has a daughter and a son who has come into the world in August 2007.

Career

After Vandi had taken singing lessons, began her music career in 1994. This year, her debut album Gela Mou was released.

1996 came out the second album Esena Perimeno, which was produced by her then-boyfriend Tony Kontaxakis.

In 1997 she managed the big breakthrough. With their third album Deka Entoles, which was produced and composed by the producer Phoebus, it reached platinum. In 2000, she brought out the six- platinum single Ypofero.

The fourth album Gia (2001), this time in collaboration with Mark Kay & Phoebus, was again a huge success for Vandi. It reached 11 days after publication platinum status. Even in Lebanon and Turkey, the double album became a perennial favorite.

In 2002, the International Year for her: she was awarded the World Music Award as the best Greek singer who both lives and works in Greece, excellent.

International success

The international breakthrough came in 2003 with the single Gia, which was played in clubs up and down. The follow-up singles Opa Opa (2004) and Come Along Now (2005) have also been successful in Europe.

Nowadays Vandi continues to be very successful in the Greek-speaking and Middle Eastern area and countries such as Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary and Ukraine. With the singles Jambi and amanes they could build on your successes.

She also appeared in 2008 as a musical guest on the Schiller album with longing and controlled the vocals for the song "Destiny" at.
