Dessauer Marsch

The Dessauer Marsch ( Armeemarsch I, 1b) is a slow military march.

It is believed that he is originally from Italy. Leopold I of Anhalt -Dessau said to have been played after the Battle of Cassano ( 1705) the melody of a popular song, which pleased him so much that he wanted to hear it constantly. Already during the Battle of Turin ( 1706), the march should have been played on his entry into the city. The Dessauer is characterized by sophisticated trumpet solos.
