Destination management

An incoming agency ( in German also called destination agency ) is a facility of the tourism business. The incoming agency promotes the marketing of their destination ( target area ) and coordinates travel and tourism services jointly with the participating providers, operators and travel agencies. The term derives from the English technical term incoming tourism ( in German referred to as " incoming tourism" ) that identifies that segment of the tourism industry that focuses on the destination of the acquisition, transportation and care of the guest.

In contrast to the outgoing agency, so the acting on the markets of origin of visitors travel agent, the destination agency employs primarily with the promotion of the tourism infrastructure in the region own location and provides travel services to non-local tour operators and guests. As a service provider, it works for this purpose along with many other service providers, in particular with local providers of tourist services (hotels, villas, restaurants, travel guides, Hostess Agencies, leisure companies, etc.), transport service providers ( shipping companies, transport companies, etc.) and tour operators. In addition, it establishes contacts with national and international partners to raise or maintain the interest in the target area and as many guests to move to a trip there. As such, the destination agency exerts essentially of a bridge and intermediary between the demand on the markets of origin and the offer on the spot.
