Detlef Pirsig

Detlef Pirsig ( born October 22, 1945 in Schwerin ) is a former German football player and coach.

Career

Pirsig was for many years one of the pillars of the defense of MSV Duisburg. He played from 1965 to 1977 in 337 games for Duisburg in the first Bundesliga, scoring ten goals. From 1968 to 1977, he was missing in six league games of Duisburg and was considered highly reliable central defender.

His greatest successes were reaching the DFB Cup finals in 1966 and 1975, the MSV Duisburg but lost both, with Pirsig was only used in the final in 1975.

After his career at MSV Duisburg he became player-coach for BV Lüttringhausen, with whom he 1982/83 promotion to the Second Bundesliga. There he had to give up as coach, to be eligible to play next. After the descent of the BVL Pirsig coached the Wuppertal SV (1984-1986), the MSV Duisburg (1986-1989) and again in 1989 the BVL, with whom he 1991, after renaming in FC Remscheid, again in the 2nd Bundesliga climb. Apart from a brief interruption (1993 /94 Oberliga Schwarz-Weiß Essen ), Detlef Pirsig remained until 1998 in Remscheid. For the 1998/99 season he became a coach for Oberliga FC Wegberg -Beeck.

Detlef Pirsig was until April 1, 2003 sports director at MSV Duisburg and thereafter until July 19, 2005 Member of the ' athletic competence team '. As the successor to Thomas Kretschmer was named.
