Detlef Richter

Detlef Richter ( born June 6, 1956 in Leipzig ) is a retired German bobsledder. His home club was the ASK forward Oberhof.

He started for the crew of the German Democratic Republic (GDR) in 1980 and 1988 Winter Olympics and won at the Games in Lake Placid 1980, together with Horst Schönau, Roland Wetzig and Andreas Kirchner the bronze medal in the four-man.

Together with Steffen Grummt he won a silver medal at the Bob World Cup 1985 in Cervinia and a bronze medal at the Bob World Cup 1986 in Koenigssee in the two-man bob. In the four-man he was at the Bob World Cup 1979 in Koenigssee in the carriage of helmsman Meinhard takers and at the Bob World Cup in 1985. Helmsman each runner-up as well as the Bob World Championships 1983 in Lake Placid at the helm of third parties

In European Championships he won in 1984 in Igls the second and 1986 in Igls third place in the two- and 1981 in Igls, 1982 in Cortina d' Ampezzo and 1984 in Igls each second in the four-man event.

For winning the silver medal at the World Championships in 1985 in the four-man ( Bodo Ferl, Dietmar Jerke, Mathias Legler, Detlef Richter) he was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in silver.
