Detlef Zühlke

Detlef Zühlke ( * 1949 in Bad Pyrmont ) is a German engineer and university teacher.

Career

Zühlke studied electrical engineering and technical computer science at RWTH Aachen University, worked and earned his doctorate in 1983 at the Machine Tool Laboratory ( WZL ) of the RWTH Aachen robot programming. In 1985 he moved to Deutsche Lufthansa AG. Here he worked as a head of department for aircraft maintenance last.

Since 1991 Zühlke holds the Chair for Production Automation ( pak ) at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern. In 1998 he founded here the Center for Human- Machine Interaction ( ZMMI ), which researches and provides services in the field of design of human -machine systems for industrial applications.

Since 2009 he leads the research area Innovative Factory Systems ( IFS) at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI ) GmbH.

Zühlke is the main initiator of the technology initiative SmartFactory KL eV - the intelligent factory of the future, which was founded in 2005 with renowned partners from industry and science. In the first vendor-neutral, European demo factory everyday technologies and ideas are explored in practice and transferred the latest information and communication technologies in automation technology.

His efforts in all areas of research are the transfer of the principle of the "Internet of things" in the factory environment: the " Factory -of -Things ".
