Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix

The Chevrolet Indy Dual in Detroit is a car racing event in Detroit, Michigan, United States. The first race was held in 1982. From 1982 to 1988 it belonged to the Formula 1 World Championship. Since 1989 it belongs to the highest category in American Championship Car Racing. Since 2007 it is part of the racing calendar in the IndyCar Series. It was held until 1991 on the Detroit Street Circuit and takes place at the Raceway at Belle Isle since 1992. The race was not held annually from 2002.

2013 IndyCar event was conducted with two races over the entire distance on a weekend for the Chevrolet Indy Dual in Detroit for the first time.

History

The Detroit Grand Prix was first held in 1982 as part of the Formula 1 World Championship. He was held at the Detroit Street Circuit. Until 1988, the event remained in the racing calendar of Formula 1, where it was called United States Grand Prix East ( 1982-1984 ) and United States Grand Prix ( 1985-1988).
