Deuel County (South Dakota)

The Deuel County is a county located in the U.S. state of South Dakota. In 2010, the County had 4364 inhabitants and a population density of 2.7 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters County Seat is Clear Lake.

Geography

The County is located in eastern South Dakota on the border with Minnesota. It has an area of 1649 square kilometers, (2.07 percent) spread over 1615 square kilometers of land and 34 square kilometers of water. On the Deuel County borders the following Nachbarcountys:

History

The Deuel County was founded in 1862. 1874 has been established to manage. The County was named after Jacob S. Deuel, who on the territory of the later counties operated a sawmill since 1860. The first county seat was Gary before the administration moved to Clear Lake.

Demographics
