Occupation

Frontman Tom Barman is with vocals and guitar. Klaas Janzoons plays keyboards, mandolin and violin, Stéphane Misseghers drums, Alan Gevaert Bass and Mauro Pawlowski also guitar. Misseghers until 2004, was a member of the band Soulwax; Pawlowski was, as Craig Ward, temporarily Kiss My Jazz.

Former members were Stef Kamil Carlens ( bass), who got out and the band Zita Swoon founded (initially under the name Moondog Jr.); Rudy Trouvé (guitar), who is pursuing a career as a musician and visual artist; Jules de Borgher (drums ); Danny Mommens ( bass), who left the band in 2004 to devote himself entirely to his other band Vive la Fête; and Craig Ward ( guitar), who also retired in 2004 for health reasons.

Style

The band that sings mainly in English, fell to with an unusual range of integrated influences, ranging from Captain Beefheart to jazz in the style of Charles Mingus, Leonard Cohen to the Velvet Underground. Accordingly, in their music reflects a variety of different styles, including pop, punk and heavy metal. dEUS quickly became one of the most successful Belgian rock bands in the history.

History

The band formed in 1989 in Antwerp.

The first three studio albums, the band appeared at Iceland Records: Worst Case Scenario (1994 ), In A Bar Under The Sea (1996 ) and The Ideal Crash ( 1999). dEUS also released several singles and the experimental EP My Sister = My Clock ( 1995), which was originally designed only for direct sale to fans, but was still issued as the-counter release due to popular demand from Iceland. Their 2001 release, a compilation of songs under the title No More Loud Music with a parallel DVD called No More video.

From 2000 to 2004 the band took an extended break to give the members the opportunity to pursue their various interests. Barman occurred at this time as a director and screenwriter of a feature film with the title Any Way The Wind Blows in appearance. From the middle of 2004, the band began recording new material and gave concerts in different places in Europe. In August 2004, appeared ( as a download ) the single If You Do not Get What You Want. The album, titled Pocket Revolution appeared on 12 September 2005 when members of the Virgin Group Label V2 Records. On the EP What We Talk About ( When We Talk About Love ) ( a reference to the title of a collection of short stories by Raymond Carver from 1981 ) there is also a Spanish sung version of the theme song: " Sentimientos, cuando hablamos de amor".

Was released in 2004 by Universal the double CD Tom Barman, Guy van Nueten live. This album is reduced to guitar and vocals ( Barman ) and Piano (van Nueten ), offers some cover versions interesting live versions of dEUS songs that were partly before, partly but not until later released on various albums of the band.

The album Vantage Point, came out on the V2 label in April 2008. The album Keep You Close is published on 16 September 2011 it reached on the same day the Golden Record status in Belgium.
