The German Society for Aeronautics and Astronautics - Lilienthal- Oberth eV ( DGLR ) was founded in 1912 under the name Scientific Society for Aviation equipment ( WGF ). It is the world's second- oldest technical- scientific society for aerospace.

Its more than 3000 members are scientists, engineers, politicians, industrialists, students and at the Aerospace interested citizens from at home and abroad.

Objectives

DGLR wants

  • Serve and help develop future prospects of progress in all fields of aerospace
  • Promote the exchange of experience in the aerospace industry at national and international level
  • Represent the interests of the German Aerospace outward in the national and international context
  • Support the youth by promoting technical and scientific papers in all disciplines of aerospace
  • Promote the cultural aspects of aerospace.

DGLR organizes the annual " German Aviation and Aerospace Congress" and conducts national and international conferences, workshops, symposia and organized parliamentary evenings. In addition, the junior is promoted through training courses and support. The company is divided into 18 regional and 8 junior research groups. Furthermore, there are 16 departments that focus the knowledge of all the working areas of the aviation and aerospace industry in Germany.

History

Memberships

DGLR is a voting member of the International Astronautical Federation (IAF ) and the International Council of the Aeronautical Sciences ( ICAS ). It is one of the four founding members of the Council of European Aerospace Societies (CEAS ) and collaborates with the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics ( AIAA ) for years.

Events / conferences

DGLR organized every year since 1952 the German Aviation and Aerospace Congress ( DLRK ).

The German Air and Space Congress 2007 from 10 to 13 September 2007 in Berlin was also the "First European Air and Space Conference CEAS 2007".

The last Congress was held from 10 to 12 September 2012 in Berlin with more than 300 scientific presentations, and posters and 700 participants. The Congress for 2013 is planned in Stuttgart for the 10 to 12 September 2013.
