The German Brauer -Bund eV ( DBB ), based in Berlin ( Germany ) is an association of member associations and direct members of the brewing industry. Member associations are regional associations and professional associations of the brewing industry, direct members are companies and groups of the brewing industry, which have at least 3.5 million hectoliters of beer production per year. History

Since the 1850s, efforts were made, including by the publisher Johann Carl to create a Brauer -Bund. After long negotiations, the establishment of the Brauer - Federal was scheduled for 28 July 1870. The outbreak of the Franco-German War prevented this venture. After the proclamation of the German Empire in 1871, the inaugural meeting was held on July 27, 1871 during the First German brewers day in Dresden. The meeting was attended by approximately 1000 brewers from all countries of the German Empire, Austria - Hungary, 's Russian Empire, Sweden, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Switzerland and the USA part. The first president of the German Brewers Federal was Johann stone. As an official publication of the German Brewers Federal the General brewers and hop -Zeitung was determined.

Tasks

The members of the DBB act in a declining market for many years: while in the 1990s, every German drank an average of 140 liters of beer, while in 2007 only 112 liters.

Presidium

In June 2011, newly-elected for three years, the Bureau shall assist the President in the conduct of the German Brewers Federation. The ambassador for the beer

Since 2002, the German Brauer -Bund eV appoints first on the "Day of the German beer ", April 23, since 2011, on the occasion of the German brewers day in June of each year, the " Ambassador of Beer". This award is given to those who placed an extraordinary commitment to the game. This commitment may for example be an energetic and exemplary commitment to the German beer or special volunteer, professional, social or political activities or pioneering initiatives.

Others

Health conscious diet

The Berlin Regional Court the German Brewers Association eV forbidden to sue the consumer centers in a competitive process, to advertise in the context of commercial activity with positive health effects of alcoholic beverages. World Heritage

Since December 2012, the German Brauer -Bund eV is for the registration of the Reinheitsgebot as a World Heritage Site. The application of this was from the Bavarian Brewers' Association eV filed with the appropriate expertise at the Bavarian State Ministry of Education and Culture, Science and Art. Up to two years, it lasts until the application is decided, therefore, the process can take up to mark the 500th anniversary of the Reinheitsgebot in 2016.
