The German Hockey Association eV ( DHB) is the governing body for hockey in Germany and was founded on 31 December 1909 in Bonn. After several relocations, most recently from Hürth, the Association now has its headquarters in the Warsteiner Hockey Park in Monchengladbach. The DHB has about 77,000 members (as of January 1, 2012). He is the merger of the German hockey clubs in the 15 state hockey associations Baden- Württemberg, Bavaria, Berlin, Brandenburg, Bremen, Hamburg, Hesse, Mecklenburg -Western Pomerania, Lower Saxony, Rheinland-Pfalz/Saar, Saxony, Saxony -Anhalt, Schleswig -Holstein, Thuringia and West Germany are organized. The German Hockey Association is a member of the German Olympic Sports Confederation, as well as in the World Hockey Association FIH ( Federation Internationale de Hockey) and the European Hockey Federation EHF ( European Hockey Federation). Responsible of the German Hockey Association is also responsible for German hockey teams. President is currently Stephan Abel.

Following his re- establishing on December 10, 1949 in Cologne, the DHB had first eleven national associations: the Badische HV and HV Württemberg merged until 22 June 1996 on the HV Baden -Württemberg, Brandenburg HSV, the HV Mecklenburg -Western Pomerania, Saxony's HV, the HV Saxony -Anhalt and Thuringia the HSV occurred on November 3, 1990 in Hürth at the DHB.
