Deutsches Institut für Bautechnik

The German Institute for Building Technology ( DIBt ) is a German federal-state device in the construction sector. It has its headquarters in Berlin- Schöneberg on the eastern edge of the Red Island at the bridge column.

Tasks / activities

The DIBt obtained European Technical approvals for construction products and systems and general building approvals for construction products and building elements. It recognizes testing, monitoring and certification bodies under the Ü mark and the CE marking of construction tasks. It also published Building Regulations Lists and the so-called pattern - lists of Technical Building.

History

Building inspection and building regulations fell after the Second World War as tasks to the states. For nationwide unification they joined in 1951 Bopparder agreement, a " management agreement for the uniform regulation of the process of general approvals of new building materials and types of construction in the area of the Federal Republic and the State of Berlin ." In 1964, the establishment of an Institute for Building Technology was proposed as a federal-state device and realized in Berlin in 1968. After German reunification in 1993 were the new Länder the construction contract with the Institute changed its name now as DIBt and took over European duties under the Construction Products Act.
