Deutschland sucht den Superstar (season 5)
The fifth season of the German singing talent show Germany sucht den Superstar aired from 23 January to 17 May 2008 at the television station RTL program. Dieter Bohlen and Anja Lukaseder remained jury members, while Heinz Henn was replaced by the manager of the Fantastic Four, Andreas " Bär " Läsker. Presenter Tooske Ragas was no longer there also, so Marco Schreyl hosted the show alone. It won Thomas Godoj. He had, as Mark Medlock, from the first Top 15 show until the finale the highest caller numbers.

Now or Never! - The Top 15 Show
The first live show of the fifth season was held on March 8, 2008. The five candidates with the most phone calls came directly into the theme shows. After a short consultation the jury voted for 5 other candidates who also moved into the theme shows.
First Mottoshow
The first theme show was titled Current Super hits and took place on March 15, 2008. Very few calls got Jermaine Alford.
Second Mottoshow
The second theme show was titled The biggest movie hits and took place on March 22, 2008. Sahra Drone was elected this evening by the spectators from the competition.
Third Mottoshow
The third theme show was titled Mariah Carey and Take That and was held on April 5, 2008. Stella Salato had to leave the show.
The highlight of the evening was a performance of Mariah Carey, who presented her new song Touch My Body.
Fourth Mottoshow
The fourth theme show Greatest Hits aired on April 12, 2008. Candidate Collins Owusu had to leave the show.
Fifth Mottoshow
The fifth theme show songs of the jury took place on 19 April 2008. In this show, the jury decided which song had to sing each candidate. Moderator Marco Schreyl announced in the decision show that Benjamin Stove had received the fewest viewer votes and therefore had to leave the show.
Sixth Mottoshow
The sixth theme show of 26 April 2008 was & ballads under the motto party classics. Rania Zeriri won the fewest viewer votes and has retired from the show.
Seventh Mottoshow
The seventh theme show was held on 3 May 2008. The motto was Germany vs. England. The candidates sang alternately a German or English title. Monika Ivkic got the fewest calls.
Semifinal
Thomas Godoj, Linda Teodosiu and Fady Maalouf fought on 10 May 2008 at the finals. For the first time this season, each candidate sang three songs. The motto of the three rounds denominated number - one hits, Beatles and Dedicated to ....
At the end of the semifinal Thomas Godoj and Fady Maalouf received the most calls. Linda Teodosiu received the fewest votes and was eliminated. Teodosiu is the best girl of the fifth season of Germany sucht den Superstar.
Final
On May 17, Fady Maalouf and Thomas Godoj fought for the title Superstar 2008. During the first round of the counterparty sang a song of their choice, then a song they have already sung in a live show and in the third round singing each his winning titles.
After the performances of the finalists, there was a duet of the two with the song My Way by Frank Sinatra.
Thomas Godoj is the winner of the fifth season and thus Superstar 2008.
