Developing tank

A developing tank is a device employed in photography for developing film. This refers to light-tight containers in the photosensitive material is usually placed in complete darkness. After sealing, the ambient light can be turned on, and the development process can be carried out by adding the necessary chemicals and corresponding motion.

Opposite the shell development in open containers, the advantage is that you can work in ambient light. In addition, the movement of the can can be mechanized.

As a developing tank usually a semi or fully automatic developing machine is called.

A daily light box also allows charging at normal ambient light. It consists of two chambers, the actual developing tank, and the film cartridge chamber. The film cartridge can be loaded in daylight, the film gate is inserted into the transport mechanism of the tank and closed the case. The film is then wound into the box, separated depending on the model end up with an integrated cutting device and can then be developed.

As a developing drum cylindrical container for processing of photographic papers are referred to. In contrast to shell developing the drum development allows the processing of large unwieldy formats under complete exclusion of light (such as for color papers ) with very small quantities of chemicals (which are fortzugießen after each use in color processes in the rule). Unlike film developing tanks are always applied development drums lying: Only when tilted to the horizontal position, the previously introduced liquids come with the voltage applied to the inner wall of photo paper in contact. By manually rolling the drum on a work surface or by automatically rolling in the temperature-controlled water a development machine the paper is evenly moistened.
