Devers is a city in Liberty County in the U.S. state of Texas in the United States.

Geography

The city is located in the southeast corner of the county, in southeast Texas, is in the east about 70 miles from Louisiana, in the southeast about 55 km from the Gulf of Mexico.

History

At its founding in 1832, the settlement was called Carter Station, named after one of the first settlers, later Dever 's Woods, according to Thomas, Philip and John Dever. In 1870 got the place after the Texas and New Orleans Railroad and in 1874, the first post office. In 1892 the name was then changed to the present form.

30.3% of the population were under 18 years old, 5.8 % from 18 to 24, 28.6 % 25-44, 22.8 % from 45 to 64, and 12.5 % who were 65 years or older. The average age was 34 years. For every 100 females of all ages were 97.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, 87.1 males.
