Dhafer Youssef

Dhafer Youssef ( born November 19, 1967 in Teboulba, with full name Dhafer Youssef 'm 'm Tahar Maarref ) is a Tunisian jazz musicians.

Dhafer taught himself out as oud player. In 1989 he emigrated to Austria, where he was first, and later lived as a dishwasher in Graz, Vienna. There he met the violinist Anton Burger, with whom he produced several theater music, and got contact to the jazz scene. He worked with musicians like Carlo Rizzo, Nguyên Lê, Paolo Fresu and Iva Bittová, and later with Bill Laswell, Nils Petter Molvaer, Bugge Wesseltoft, Eivind Aarset, Markus Stockhausen, Gilad Atzmon, Jack DeJohnette and with Wolfgang Muthspiel, he with the In 2007, the duo album Glow presented. Since 2002 he lives in Paris.
