Dhankuta

Dhankuta is a town in the district of the same name in the Koshi Zone to the east of Nepal. Until the introduction of the districts Dhankuta in 1963 was the administrative center of the entire North East of the country.

Originally a Newar settlement, now living in Dhankuta various Nepali ethnic groups: Magar, Rai, Limbu and Tamang. The city is located on a major access road from the Terai in the Himalayas or the hinterland of the Arun, the Koshi Highway.
