Diablo Swing Orchestra

The Diablo Swing Orchestra (short: DSO ​​) is a Swedish heavy metal or crossover band. Their style is characterized by a mix of traditional metal, jazz, progressive rock and neo-classical music.

History

The band was founded in 2003, immediately followed by demo EP Borderline Hymns was published. By participating in the international Emergenza competition in Sweden, the band earned a record deal with the label Guillotine grooves. There was 2006, the first album The Butcher's Ballroom first in Scandinavia, then brought the rest of the world on the market in 2007. It was also made ​​free and available digitally later under a Creative Commons license on Jamendo. The Butcher 's Ballroom was well received by critics and won the 2006 Metal Storm Award.

In 2006, the band toured in Scandinavia and in selected clubs in Central Europe. In German-speaking countries they also had a live performance in August 2008, when she was allowed to perform on one of the biggest metal festivals in Germany, Summer Breeze, about half an hour their repertoire. In September 2009, the second studio album Sing Along Songs for the Damned & Delirious was released by the new label Ascendance Records.

Style

The band's style is characterized by an unconventional mixture of various styles. Elements of mainstream jazz are interspersed with heavy guitar riffs, the occupation with flute, violin and cello also created neoclassical and baroque deposits. The singer Annlouice Loegdlund, trained in opera singing, singing in soprano range. The lyrics are in English, Latin and Italian.

The image of the band is marked by the Metal scene ironic Selbstmystifizierung. The official biography of the band, an artificial myth is created: the band would be since the Middle Ages, but was forbidden by the church if their diabolical musical style. 600 years later reincarnated the former musician in today's Diablo Swing Orchestra.
