Diahann Carroll

Diahann Carroll ( born July 17, 1935 in the Bronx, New York; actually Carol Diahann Johnson ) is an American actress and singer.

She sang in 1962 - the 45th anniversary of John F. Kennedy - in the seats of government of the President The White House in front of illustrious guests. Present were the following: Marilyn Monroe ( after she had sung the famous "Happy Birthday" ), Maria Callas, Jack Benny, Isadore Miller ( the father of Marilyn Monroe - the father of Arthur Miller) and many others.

She was nominated in 1975 for the leading role in the social comedy Claudine for an Oscar, is a Golden Globe winner and was awarded the Tony Award.

Diahann Carroll had her breakthrough in 1968 in the lead role of a nurse in the American television series Julia. She was the first African- American actress who received her own television series. According to their model, a dark-skinned Barbie doll was manufactured.
