Dial Range

The Dial Range is a small mountain range in the north of the Australian state of Tasmania and part of the Great Dividing Range. It is located near the north coast, south of the town of Penguin, and extends about 14 km in north-south direction and 4-5 km in east-west direction. In the east and south they are bounded by the River Leven and to the south by the addition Gunns Plains.

Land use

Around 52 km ² of this area belong to the state of Tasmania. Of these, 43.54 km ² state forest and protection forest, which is managed by Forestry Tasmania. Two smaller areas, the Montgomery State Reserve and the Badgers State Reserve, are under the administration of the Tasmania Parks & Wildlife Service. The remaining 5.07 km ² are proposed for use as Nature Recreation Area.
