Diana (Region)
Diana is one of the 22 regions of Madagascar. It belongs to the ( old ) Antsiranana Province in the northern tip of the island and is situated on the road from Mozambique. In 2004, 485 800 inhabitants living in the region.
Geography
The Diana region has an area of 19,266 km ². Capital is Antsiranana.
Administrative divisions
The region is divided into 5 districts:
- I Antsiranana
- Antsiranana II
- Ambilobe
- Ambanja
- Nosy Be
The name of the region was formed from the initial letters of the five districts, with the first two letters of the old French name of Diego Suarez Antsiranana were used for I and II.
