Diane Lane

Diane Lane ( born January 22, 1965 in New York City ) is an American actress.

Life and career

As the daughter of drama coach and the nightclub dancer Colleen Farrington Diane Lane was taken very early familiar with acting: the age of six she stood for the first time on stage at the age of fourteen she was in 1979 by director George Roy Hill in the movie I love you - I love you - Je t'aime alongside Laurence Olivier occupied. Here she won the Young Artist Award (then it was still called Youth in Film Award ) for Best Actress in a Motion Picture.

There followed a period with relatively unsuccessful appearances in television and feature films before Francis Ford Coppola Lane early 1980 in The Outsiders and Rumble Fish occupied. This was followed by expensive Hollywood productions, the majority of which flopped, however, so they eventually retired for three years from the film business.

In the following years, Lane drew attention to himself, especially in smaller, more ambitious productions. In 1995, she played along side Sylvester Stallone in Judge Dredd comic book adaptation, opposite Robin Williams in Jack (1996 ) with Wesley Snipes in Murder in the White House (1997). 2000 followed the lead female role in The Tempest alongside George Clooney.

2002 succeeded Lane the final breakthrough as an actress: the representation of the alien walking wife of Richard Gere in the romantic drama Unfaithful earned her several awards for Best Actress and a Golden Globe and an Oscar nomination.

From 1988 to 1994 Lane was married to her fellow actor Christopher Lambert, with whom she has a daughter. Since 2004, she was with Josh Brolin - the son of James Brolin and stepson of Barbra Streisand - married. In February 2013, the couple announced their separation.
