Diane Williams (athlete)

Diane Williams ( born December 14, 1960 in Chicago) is a former American track and field athlete, who specialized in the 100 -meter run.

At the World Athletics Championships 1983 in Helsinki Williams won the 100m with a time of 11.06 s the bronze medal behind the two East German Marlies Goehr ( 10.97 s ) and Marita Koch ( 11:02 s ). Four years later at the World Athletics Championships 1987 in Rome she won the title in the 4 x 100 - meter relay. The U.S. team in the occupation of Alice Brown, Diane Williams, Florence Griffith Joyner and Pam Marshall referred in 41.58 s, the relay races of the GDR ( 41.95 s ) and the Soviet Union ( 42.33 s ) to the places. In the 100 - meter race in Rome Williams finished fourth.
