Dianema

Tail stripe torpedo catfish ( Dianema urostriata )

Dianema is a genus of the family of armored catfish and calluses ( Callichthydiae ).

The occurring in tropical South America Fish differ from other representatives of the Cichlidae family by a somewhat different type of physique. Because of their appearance, the spindle-shaped, elongated fish with forward-facing barbels are often referred to as a torpedo torpedo catfish or catfish calluses. Unlike other catfish they keep calluses preferably free floating on water in the middle layers.

The two species belonging to the genus Dianema are peace-loving flock of fish that are also suitable for in aquariums. As Darmatmer they must have the opportunity to take atmospheric air, which is why free access to the water surface is necessary.
