Diano Marina

Diano Marina is an Italian port town on the Italian Riviera. It has 6077 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) and is located in the province of Imperia, region Liguria.

The site covers an area of 6 km ² and has a population density of 1048 inhabitants / km ². The neighboring municipalities are Diano San Pietro, Diano Castello, Imperia and San Bartolomeo al Mare.

History

1887, the town was almost completely destroyed by an earthquake. In addition to the small medieval remains, therefore, dominates the architectural style of the late 19th and early 20th centuries the center.

Above Diano Marina, the Medieval Diano, which now belongs to the municipality of Diano Marina rises. Previously, however, the port city of Diano Marina Diano was an appendage of the city.

Tourism

Diano Marina has experienced a remarkable recovery since 2000. Almost the entire old town in the evening, a pedestrian street with many bars, pizzerias and restaurants.

Many roads leading to the center and some of the streets of the city center are avenues of orange trees. Diano Marina is located on the eastern border of the so-called Riviera.

Famous people

  • Alessandro Valente (1890-1958), tenor and inventor. Holds several patents around the world.
