Features

Snake crawl are small and vermiform, its maximum length is 25 inches, the body color is brown. They are legless, only the males have, like the fins feet, about stubby hind legs, with which they hold in mating to the females. External ear openings are missing, the rudimentary eyes are covered by a scale.

Snake Sneaking have a grave lifestyle, Anelytropsis stays in semi-arid areas, bushland and dominated by pine and oak forests. Dibamus species live in rain forests, under stones and rotting wood. The food of animals is unknown. They multiply oviparous and lay only one egg per clutch.

System

The systematic position of the snake crawl is controversial. Some scientists believe a relationship with the amphisbaenians ( amphisbaenians ) and make the snake crawl with these in the Skinkartigen ( Scincomorpha ). After molecular biological investigations, the snake crawls are as primitive members at the base of the family tree of the Squamata ( Squamata ) and are more closely related to any other group.
