1,2- dibromotetrafluoroethane is a chemical compound selected from the group of the saturated aliphatic halogenated hydrocarbons. It is available as a colorless, highly volatile liquid.

Use

1,2- dibromotetrafluoroethane was used as a fire fighting agent. It is classified as ozone depleting ( ODP of 6) prohibits the use in Germany, according to CFC- Halon Prohibition Ordinance.

On 8 November 2008, there was on the Russian submarine K -152 to a serious accident when the fire extinguishing system triggered as a result of a false alarm and a Freon -free set, where 20 people died. As Freon it is depending on the source of Freon -112 or just given dibromotetrafluoroethane (Freon 114b2 ).
