Natriumdibunat ( Dibunat ) is a drug that belongs to the group of antitussives ( " cough suppressant ").

It is a mixture of two isomers is substituted with two different tertiary butyl groups ( sodium 3, 6 -, and sodium -3 ,7- di -tert-butyl -naphthalene- 1-sulfonate ).

Natriumdibunat has no structural relationship with other antitussives.

Effect

It is believed that it blocks cough receptors in the bronchial tract, while others cough suppressant mainly block the cough center in the brain stem.
