Dick Fosbury

Richard Douglas Fosbury ( born March 6, 1947 in Portland, Oregon ) is a former American athlete. Named usually with the short form " Dick" athlete revolutionized the high jump by the created by him jumping technique, the Fosbury flop in which the Springer backward crossed the bar.

He won with his new technique first American Olympic excretion and on 20 October 1968, the gold medal at the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City with a skipped height of 2.24 meters. Although his technique was initially skeptical, she sat through in a relatively short time and is now in a modified form of the standard technique of the high jump.

Currently, Fosbury was invited as guest of honor to track and field events, he lives in the U.S. state of Idaho and worked as a surveyor in road construction.
