Dick Garmaker

Richard Eugene " Dick" Garmaker ( born October 29, 1932 in Hibbing, Minnesota ) is a retired American professional basketball player. Used on the position of the guard or forward, he played 1955-1961 in the NBA.

Garmaker grew up in Minnesota in his birthplace of Hibbing. After finishing school, he played for the Minnesota Golden Gophers, as member in 1955 he became elected to the All-American team. In 1954 and 1955 he was drafted by the Minneapolis Lakers, for whom he played from the 1955/56 season. During his time with the Lakers, he participated four times in the All -Star Game. The most successful, he finished the season 1956/57, which he finished as the tenth best player, averaging 16.3 points per game and was named to the All- NBA Second Team. In 1960, he was traded to the New York Knicks and finished his career in 1961. In total he scored 421 regular season games in the NBA 1,748 rebounds, 1,114 assists and 5,597 points ( Playoffs: 21 games with 98 rebounds, 67 assists and 284 points ).
