Dick Geary

Dick Geary (actually Richard J. Geary; * 1945 ) is a British historian.

Geary's research interests lie in the history of European labor movement and Marxism. A special importance is attributed to the latest German history, especially in the period of the Empire, the Weimar Republic and National Socialism. For some time, Dick Geary is increasingly concentrating on the history of slavery. Deary operates primarily social history and comparative studies.

Dick Geary worked at renowned research institutions such as King's College in Cambridge, taught at Lancaster University, where he directed the department German Studies. At the University of Nottingham he was until his retirement in 2010 Director of the Institute for the Study of Slavery.
