Dick King-Smith
Dick King -Smith, OBE ( born: Ronald Gordon King -Smith; born March 27, 1922 in Bitton, Gloucestershire, England; † January 4, 2011 in Bath ) was an English children's book author.
Life
King-Smith was a long time farmer until he completed a teacher training course at a teacher training college and then taught at a village school. His internationally known book is in luck, tots! ( The Sheep - Pig, 1983), under the title A Babe ( Babe, 1995) was filmed with great success. Another film adaptation was My Friend, The Water Horse (The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep, 2007), based on his book The little sea monster (The Water Horse, 1990).
