Dick Richards

Dick Richards ( b. 1936 ) is an American film director, producer and screenwriter.

After working as a photographer (among other things for the Life Magazine ), Richards began his film career as a director of commercials. His film career began in 1972 with the Western Greenhorn, for which he wrote the screenplay and directed. In 1975, the government followed in Farewell, My favorite on the novel by Raymond Chandler with Robert Mitchum in the main and Sylvester Stallone in a small supporting role.

Other directing credits were March or Die (1977 ) with Gene Hackman and Terence Hill, Jude with Martin Sheen (1983) and Heat - Nik, the killer with Burt Reynolds ( 1986).

After he had come across the script for Tootsie, he was originally supposed to take over the government; after difficulties with the script he was limited to the production (in addition to director Sydney Pollack ) which gives a 1983 Academy Award nomination in the category earned Best Picture. In addition, both were nominated for the BAFTA Film Award.
