Dick Weisgerber

Richard Arthur "Dick" Weisgerber ( born February 19, 1913 in Kearny, New Jersey, USA; † 14 MAY 1984 in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin ) was a U.S. American football player. He played in the National Football League ( NFL) with the Green Bay Packers.

Playing career

College career

Weisgerber attended Newark High School and studied for his degree at Willamette University in Salem. At his college he also played American football. In 1936 he was elected to the All American. From 1934 to 1938 he won with his team the championship in each of the Northwestern Conference. From his college league, he was elected four times to the All- Star.

Professional career

In 1938, Weisgerber received a contract with the trained by Curly Lambeau Green Bay Packers. The team from Green Bay Weisgerber played alongside numerous choices players like Bill Lee, Arnie Herber, Clarke Hinkle or Don Hutson. Already in his first game year Weisgerber moved with his team in the NFL playoff one. The game against the New York Giants, however, was lost with 17:3. 1939 the Packers were able to win nine of their 11 games. The team moved again in the NFL playoff. Opponents were once again the New York Giants, who were beaten this time by 27-0. 1941, Weisgerber from a year after the 1942 season, he finished his career.

Honors

Weisgerber played in the 1940 Pro Bowl and is a member of the Willamette University Hall of Fame.

After the NFL career

Weisgerber operated a restaurant in Fish Creek, Wisconsin to his career.
