Dickson County, Tennessee

Dickson County is a county located in the state of Tennessee in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Charlotte.

Geography

The County is located north-west of the geographic center of Tennessee, is located in the north about 50 miles from Kentucky and has an area of ​​1272 square kilometers, of which 4 square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Montgomery County, Cheatham County, Williamson County, Hickman County, Humphreys County and Houston County.

History

Dickson County was formed on October 25, 1803 from parts of Montgomery County and Robertson County. It was named after William Dickson, a friend of President Jackson, a member of the U.S. Congress, President of the House of Representatives from Tennessee from 1806 to 1816 and a board member of the University of Nashville.
