Didrik Marksten

Didrik Marksten (* March 1, 1971 in Oslo ) is a retired Norwegian alpine skier. He drove in all disciplines, where he was most successful in the Giant Slalom and Super -G.

Biography

International in appearance Marksten first appeared at the Junior World Cup 1990 in Zinal. The first points in a World Cup race, he overtook January 5, 1991 as the 14th of the Super -G in Garmisch- Partenkirchen. His best result this season was two and a half months later, the sixth place in the Super G in Lake Louise. At the 1991 World Championships in Saalbach -Hinterglemm, he finished in the Giant Slalom and in combination each eighth.

In the first half of the 1991/92 season Marksten did not come as a 14th place out. But then he won on February 2, 1992 as a complete surprise the giant slalom in Saint- Gervais, before Alberto Tomba and Markus Wasmeier. Thus, he qualified for the 1992 Winter Olympics, but where he retired in both the giant slalom and the slalom. At the end of the World Cup season was followed by a third place finish in the giant slalom in Crans -Montana.

Could Marksten in the 1992/93 season, these successes do not confirm; the best result was an eighth place. The 1993 World Series ended for him with two failures. After missing it past in the 1993/94 season with a 19th place, he stepped back from professional sports.
