Die Knapp-Familie

The Knapp family is a 1981 German television broadcast miniseries. She had a total of five episodes of approximately 95 minutes. Director, Stephan Meyer, who turned after his and Eckhard Henscheids manuscripts. The first broadcast took place on 14 November 1981. The exterior shots were filmed in 1981 in Duisburg -Homberg and Dinslaken.

The individual episodes were produced and broadcast by WDR in the ARD in the evening program. As part of the festival history: WDR shows " The Ruhr area in the film" was repeated the series on the WDR 2000 3 program.

Content

The Knapp family is a family of miners from the Ruhr. Mother Elfriede Knapp ( Rosel Zech ), mother of four children and her husband Paul ( Eberhard Fechner ), miners and Hobbydichter want to celebrate three weddings after 25 years of marriage. Once the own silver wedding, the daughter of Roswitha ( Verena Reichard ) to her boyfriend Bernd ( Martin Sperr ), with whom she lives, marry, and eventually to daughter Dietlinde ( Christiane light man) the Greeks Vasily marriage. Paul is happy to not be bothered, but he can devote himself to his writing. But all the wedding plans seem to vanish, because it threatens the foreclosure sale or the demolition of her house. The family threatens to break apart. The father falls in love with the librarian, the mother visited the racetrack to bet. Elfriede Just want the house in the meantime sell to a team owner who wants to transform the mining village to a crowd - residential area. It plans a hunger strike. After numerous events it is possible under the leadership of Paul to unite the rest of the inhabitants to an initiative, and together they save their homes.

The series is based on a true story. In the late 1960s, the mining camp Rheinpreussen was torn down to two -thirds, the residents fought successfully in a citizens' initiative in Duisburg- Homberg against the final demolition and foreclosure of their homes and land.
