Diego Abatantuono

Diego Abatantuono ( born May 20, 1955 in Milan ) is an Italian actor and screenwriter.

Life

Abatantuono was born in Milan. His father is from Puglia, his mother from Como. She worked as Garderoberin in Milan's Jazz Club, which later became a cabaret called Derby. The owner of this establishment was the uncle Abatantuonos. Diego Abatantuono began in Derby as Lightworkers, and later he became the artistic director and also worked as an actor. After some time with the comedic musical group Gatti di Vicolo Miracoli and some smaller roles in movies, he returned to Derby. Here he was discovered by the famous TV show host, film director and talent scout Renzo Arbore, of him for a role in his film Il Pap'occhio (1980 ), with Roberto Benigni, committed. Here began Abantantuonos successful film career in the role of an uncultured immigrants from Southern Italy ( the Terruncello ). Here he first spoke to the personal form of jargon, which should be a kind of trademark.

His biggest success was the film Eccezzziunale ... veramente of 1982 ( he also wrote the screenplay), in which he describes three different forms of tifoso ( Fan) of the most famous football teams in Italy, AC Milan, Inter Milan and Juventus.

His first role as a dramatic actor in 1986 when he was hired by Pupi Avati for his movie Regalo di Natale. Occasionally though Abatantuono returned back to comic roles, but now mainly played dramatic roles in numerous films of his friend Gabriele Salvatores, including the Oscar-winning movie Mediterraneo, Nirvana and I'm not afraid.

Abatantuono is also a popular personality on Italian television shows and a longtime AC Milan supporter.
