Diego de Alvarado Huanitzin

Don Diego de Alvarado Huanitzin was the son of Tezozomoc (not to be confused with the Tepanekenfürsten or the son of Itzcoatl ), the brother of Moctezuma II and Cuitláuacs.

He was from 1539-1542 tlatoani Tenochtitlán, but exercised no real power anymore. In this office he was followed in 1542 by a grandson Tízocs. When he died in 1554, followed by the last tlatoani this race, Don Luís de Santa Maria Nacatzipatzin. His wife was his cousin Doña Francisca de Montezuma, the daughter of Moctezuma II, with whom he had a son, Don Hernando de Alvarado Tezozomoc. He became an important chronicler of New Spain. Diego Huantitzin was one of the early representatives of Christian art in America. From it probably comes the spring drawing Gregor The fair, which is on display at the Musée des Jacobins, too.
