Dielmissen

Dielmissen is a municipality in the northern district of Minden wood in Lower Saxony ( Germany ) and belongs to Samtgemeinde Eschershausen City Oldendorf.

Geography

Gently nestled between the Ith and the Vogler upstream elevation of Tuchtberges is Dielmissen on the lower slopes of Ith in the Ithbörde.

In the east and south Dielmissen borders Lüerdissen, on the west by Kirchbrak and in the north hall.

History

The present village area was around 800 AD in the border area of the districts Tilithi and Wikanavelde. The Gau Thilithi belonged to a section of the trunk region of Saxony.

The birth of the village is shrouded in darkness. But the settlement is only in the second period, which is characterized by the endings -sen (abbreviated - sen), home, village, field, etc., have taken place. That ( probably named after the Earl ESIKO once Esikoshausen ) are located in a circle of 13 wooden Minden villages ending in- sen nine alone in the Ithbörde, the district court district Eschershausen, seems to be a sure proof of a closed population. As the names indicate mostly privately owned, it is likely that they arose towards the end of the period, because private property points to a later time there, but before completion of this place-name class ( 800 AD) were settled.

The village Dielmissen was first mentioned on 23 August 1151 and from 1194 to 1401 there were in neighboring towns a knightly family " de Didilmissen " (from Dielmissen ).

Until 1946 Dielmissen part of the Free State of Brunswick, where he was part of the Weser-Harz - area. 1996 lived 899 inhabitants in the municipality.

Etymology

There are various forms of the name of the place known:

Interpretation: the home of a Thiathelmi ( Theothelm, Thiudhelm, Dietelm, Thiadelm ) Thiadhelmes - husen, from here the development to Dielmissen be explained without major problems.

Today, the surname " Dier Missen " exists in various countries, such as Costa Rica, USA, Canada, El Salvador and Germany.

Culture and sights

The Romanesque Protestant village church of St. Nicholas dates from the early 13th century. It has inside a featured amenities: an altarpiece from the early 16th century, a Renaissance pulpit, numerous figures of the Apostles and a neo-Gothic organ. Next to the church is a stately oak. Since 2010, the Protestant church is being renovated to Dielmissen since turned the building due to poor subsoil.

The Catholic Church of St. John the Evangelist existed from 1964 to 2004. Nowadays, the church building is used as a private house, the nearest Catholic Church is located in Eschershausen about 5 km away.

In the "Gasthaus Anger Jug", an old timber-framed building, stayed in 1801 Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.

The nature reserve Pöttcher reason is partly located on the territory of the municipality Dielmissen.

Hiking trails

Above Dielmissen runs along the crest of the Ith - European long-distance path E11 (Netherlands - Masuria ).

Economy and infrastructure

In Dielmissen the " water board Ithbörde -Weser mountain country " is located. This is responsible for water supply and sanitation in the joint communities Eschershausen, soil Werder Polle, City Oldendorf and Boffzen.
