Diemoth

Diemut of Wessobrunn (* around 1060 in Bavaria; † March 30, 1130 in Wessobrunn ) was consecrated virgin, Reklusin and book illustrator.

Diemut of Wessobrunn lived as a nun of the Benedictine 1080-1130 deposited and great sacrifices in a small chamber in the church wall of the Benedictine Abbey of Wessobrunn where they wrote off next to their prayer life valuable old scriptures.

It is believed that during this time would also maintained a lively correspondence with the nun Herkula of Bern Ried. From the writings, but only traditions by third parties are known.

Diemut of Wessobrunn is regarded as perhaps the most important German book painter of the High Middle Ages. She had a very beautiful handwriting of which still exist some manuscripts. The codices obtained are stored in the Bavarian State Library.

Your feast day is March 30. It is indeed sometimes performed as blessed, but has never been officially beatified or canonized.
